Stain removal in Bali with a 100% guarantee or free

Bali produces its own family of stains: sunscreen at the collar, coconut oil on a sarong, red road dust on white shorts, mould spots on a shirt that stayed damp too long. We treat every one of them by hand before washing, and if a stain does not come out, the cleaning of that item is free.

TRAST Laundry Bali stain removal: a Bali stain before and after treatment

The stains Bali gives you

After three and a half years of laundry on the island, we can usually name the stain before we read the label:

  • Sunscreen. Yellow marks at the collar, the neckline and under the arms. It bonds with sweat and turns permanent in a hot wash.
  • Sweat and deodorant. Grey-yellow patches on white t-shirts and stiff underarms on dark shirts.
  • Coconut and massage oil. Dark translucent patches that spread with every wash if they are not treated first.
  • Red road dust. The fine volcanic dust from Canggu and Pererenan roads, which settles into white shorts and sneakers.
  • Sand and salt. Not a stain by itself, but sand grinds fibres and salt leaves white tide-lines on dark fabric.
  • Mould and mildew spots. Small black or grey dots on clothes that stayed damp in a wardrobe or a bag.
  • Coffee, sambal, soy sauce, wine. The everyday ones, made worse by the fact that they dried in tropical heat.
  • Grass, mud, rice-field earth on kids' clothes and hiking gear.

Each of them needs a different approach. Oil needs a degreaser and time; sunscreen needs cool water first, never hot; mould needs a targeted treatment and then a proper dry. A cheap laundry runs everything through one hot cycle, which sets half of these stains for good.

How we treat stains

  1. Inspection first. Every item is checked before washing. Stains are found now, not discovered on the folding table after they have been through the machine.
  2. Identify and pre-treat by hand. The stain is treated with the right product for its type, using the same organic range we use for everything: no chlorine, no optical brighteners, nothing that thins the fabric.
  3. Wash correctly. The item goes into the right load, at the right temperature. Hot water sets protein and sunscreen stains, so temperature is chosen per stain, not per convenience.
  4. Check again before drying. Drying is what makes a stain permanent. If a mark is still visible after washing, it goes back for a second treatment instead of into the dryer.
  5. Tell you the truth. If a stain is not coming out, we say so when we deliver, and that item is free.

What is realistic and what is not

We remove the large majority of fresh Bali stains: sunscreen, sweat, oil, dust, food, mould spots on cotton. We remove many older stains too, especially if they have not been through a hot dryer yet.

Some things are genuinely permanent, and we would rather tell you now than surprise you:

  • Dye transfer, for example a white shirt washed with a new red sarong. The colour has become part of the fibre.
  • Rust from a metal hanger or a wet zip left on white fabric.
  • Bleach spots, which are not stains but missing colour.
  • Stains that were set by heat several times before reaching us.
  • Mould that has eaten the fibre, which leaves a hole rather than a mark.

In every one of these cases the guarantee still applies: we try, and if the stain stays, you do not pay for that item.

Why "or free" is not a marketing line

A guarantee is only worth something if it costs the business when it fails. Ours does. That is why we inspect before washing, sort properly, and take the time to pre-treat by hand: the process is what makes the guarantee affordable. It is also why customers in our reviews mention stains first.

Stain removal is included in every order, from a single bag of everyday laundry to a villa's bed linen and towels and delicate fabrics. Free pickup and delivery in Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu and every other area of Bali. Read more about what is included in the price in how much laundry costs in Bali.

FAQ

Stain removal — questions

How does the stain removal guarantee work?

Simple: if we cannot remove a stain from an item, the cleaning of that item is free. You do not need to argue or send photos afterwards. We tell you when we deliver, and the item is not charged.

Do I need to point out stains before pickup?

No. Every item is inspected at the workshop before washing, and stains are found and treated then. If you know a stain is old or unusual, a note in WhatsApp helps, but it is not required.

Is stain removal an extra charge?

No. It is part of the 100,000 IDR per kg price, together with washing, drying, ironing, folding, pickup and delivery. See the price list.

Can you remove old, set-in stains?

Often, but not always. Stains that have been through a hot wash and a hot dryer are cooked into the fibre, and some, such as dye transfer or rust, may be permanent. We try, we tell you honestly, and if it does not work you do not pay for that item.

Do you use bleach?

No. We use no chlorine, no phosphates, no optical brighteners and no commercial powders. Whites are kept white by sorting and proper washing, not by bleaching them thin.

Does the guarantee cover shoes?

Yes. The same rule applies to shoe cleaning. If a stain on a pair does not come out, that pair is free.
