How much does laundry cost in Bali? Real prices for 2026
Laundry in Bali costs anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000+ IDR per kilogram, and the number alone tells you very little. Here is what each price band actually includes, how much a typical week of laundry weighs, and when it makes sense to pay more.

The three price bands you will see in Bali
Every laundry in Bali sits in one of three bands. The price per kilogram is different, but what really changes is what happens to your clothes.
| Price band | Typical price per kg | What you get | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street kiloan | 10,000–25,000 IDR | Everything washed together, machine dried hot, folded. Drop-off and pickup yourself. | Backpackers, gym clothes, things you do not mind wearing out |
| Mid-range with pickup | 40,000–60,000 IDR | Wash, dry, fold, often ironing on request. Pickup and delivery sometimes free above a minimum. | Long-stay travellers who want convenience |
| Premium full service | 100,000 IDR and up | Inspection, sorting by colour and fabric, stain removal, gentle washing, correct drying, steam ironing, folding, free pickup and delivery, guarantees. | Anyone with clothes they want to keep, villas, families |
The gap between 15,000 and 100,000 IDR looks huge until you weigh a real bag. A week of one person's laundry is about 3–5 kg. At a street kiloan that is 45,000–125,000 IDR. At a premium service it is 300,000–500,000 IDR. The difference is roughly the price of two coffees a day, and it decides whether your white shirts survive the trip.
What is hidden in a cheap price
Cheap laundry is cheap because of what is left out, not because of magic.
- Mixed loads. Your whites go in with someone else's dark jeans. This is how white t-shirts turn grey in one wash.
- One temperature for everything. Hot water is fast and kills the smell, but it shrinks cotton, fades colours and destroys elastic in swimwear.
- Hot tumble drying. The main reason "everything came back one size smaller".
- No inspection. Stains are baked in by the hot cycle and become permanent. A missed pen in a pocket ruins the whole load.
- Strong powders and chlorine. Clean on day one, thin and yellow by month three.
- Lost items. With loads mixed and nothing counted, a sock or a bikini top going missing is normal, and there is nobody to ask.
None of this is a scandal at 15,000 IDR per kg. It is simply what the price buys.
What a premium price actually includes
At TRAST the price is 100,000 IDR per kg and it covers the whole process, not just washing:
- Free pickup from your villa, hotel or apartment anywhere in Bali
- Inspection of every item before it goes anywhere near a machine
- Sorting by colour and fabric type: whites, colours, darks and delicates washed separately
- Stain removal with a guarantee: if a stain does not come out, that item is free
- Washing with organic products: no chlorine, phosphates, optical brighteners or fragrance
- Drying in a tumble dryer or in the air depending on the fabric label
- Steam ironing and folding
- Free delivery within 24 hours
Shoes are priced per pair (150,000 IDR) because they are cleaned by hand, one pair at a time. The minimum order is 200,000 IDR, which is roughly 2 kg — a few days of one person's clothes.
Express, hotel and villa laundry prices
Hotel laundry is priced per item, not per kg, and it adds up quickly: a shirt can be 60,000–120,000 IDR, a dress more, and a week's worth of clothes often costs more than the room. It is convenient, but it is the most expensive option on the island.
Express laundry at street laundries typically doubles the price for a 3–6 hour turnaround. Most people do not need it: a 24-hour service that picks up today and delivers tomorrow covers almost every situation, including checkout days.
Villa laundry for hosts is where per-kg pricing matters most. Bed linen and towels are heavy, so a two-bedroom villa turnover is easily 8–12 kg. See what we do for villas and hotels and for bed linen and towels.
How to estimate your bag before you book
You do not need a scale. Rough weights that work in practice:
- T-shirt: 150–200 g
- Shirt or blouse: 200–250 g
- Shorts: 250 g, jeans: 600–800 g
- Dress: 300–500 g
- Bath towel: 500–700 g
- Double bed sheet set with pillowcases: 1.5–2 kg
So a typical "end of the week" bag — five t-shirts, three shorts, a pair of jeans, two dresses, underwear and two towels — lands between 4 and 5 kg. At TRAST that is 400,000–500,000 IDR with everything included and nothing to do on your side except leave the bag out.
Is premium laundry worth it in Bali?
If your clothes are disposable holiday clothes, no — a street kiloan is fine. If you brought clothes you actually like, if you live in Bali and wear the same wardrobe every week, or if you host guests and your reviews depend on fresh sheets, then yes: paying 100,000 IDR per kg once is cheaper than replacing a linen shirt every month.
The honest test is simple. Look at a white item you have washed three times in Bali. If it is still white, your laundry is doing it right. If it has gone grey, the price you paid was not a bargain.
