Delicate fabric laundry in Bali
The clothes you like most are usually the ones a Bali laundry ruins first: a silk top, a viscose dress, a linen shirt, a bikini whose elastic died in a hot dryer. We read the label, wash delicates separately and cool, and dry them in the air or flat, in shape, so they come back the same size and colour they left.
Why delicates fail in Bali
The standard laundry process on the island is one hot wash and one hot tumble dry for everything in the bag. That is efficient, and it is exactly what a care label tells you not to do. Silk loses its sheen, viscose shrinks a full size, linen goes stiff and rough, lace snags on a zip, and the elastic in a bikini gives up after two cycles.
Delicate care at TRAST is not a separate premium tier. It is the natural result of the process we run on every order: inspect, read the label, sort by fabric, wash accordingly, dry accordingly. Delicates simply end up in a cooler load with a gentler dry.
Fabrics we handle
- Silk and satin tops, dresses, scarves and shirts
- Viscose, rayon, modal and Tencel, the fabrics most likely to shrink in a hot wash
- Linen shirts, trousers and dresses, which need cool washing and damp pressing to stay soft
- Lace, embroidery and beaded details, washed in mesh bags
- Knits and wool blends, washed cool and dried flat so they do not stretch
- Swimwear, rash guards and activewear, washed cool, never tumble dried
- Underwear and lingerie, washed separately in mesh bags
- Baby clothes, washed separately with the same organic products

How delicates are cared for
- Inspection and label check. Every item is read before anything else. Composition and care symbols decide the load, the temperature and the drying method.
- Separate cool wash. Delicates go in their own load, in cool water, with a gentle organic product. No chlorine, no phosphates, no optical brighteners, no fragrance.
- Protection. Lace, straps, hooks and beaded pieces go into mesh bags so nothing snags.
- Stain care by hand. Sunscreen and oil on silk or viscose are treated gently before washing, under the same stain removal guarantee as everything else. Some delicate fabrics limit what we can safely do, and we tell you.
- Drying in shape. Air drying on hangers or flat drying for knits and silk, out of direct sun. No hot dryer for anything that can shrink or lose elastic.
- Low-temperature ironing. Silk and viscose are steamed or ironed on the reverse at low heat as part of the ironing service. Knits are folded, not pressed.
What we do not do
We do not offer dry cleaning. If a garment says dry clean only, we will tell you honestly and explain whether a cool hand wash is safe for that fabric; the decision is yours. We do not use "delicate" as a reason to charge more, and we do not skip the inspection just because a bag looks like beachwear.

Delicates — questions
Is there an extra charge for delicate items?
No. Delicate care is part of the full service and the 100,000 IDR per kg price. It is included because sorting by fabric is something we do for every order anyway. See the price list.
Do I need to separate delicates from the rest of my laundry?
No. Everything can go in the same bag. Every item is inspected and sorted at the workshop, and delicates are pulled into their own load. A note in WhatsApp about a particularly precious piece is welcome but not required.
Can you wash silk?
Yes. Silk is washed cool in its own load with a gentle organic product, never wrung, dried flat away from direct sun and ironed at low temperature on the reverse side. If a label says dry clean only, we tell you before doing anything, because we do not offer dry cleaning.
Will my swimwear and activewear lose their elastic?
Not with us. Elastic dies from heat, so swimwear and activewear are washed cool and never tumble dried. They come back with the same stretch.
What if a garment says "dry clean only"?
We do not offer dry cleaning, and we will not pretend to. We tell you in WhatsApp, explain whether a careful cool hand wash is safe for that item, and let you decide.
