Laundry prices in Bali by area (2026)
Laundry prices in Bali vary less by area than people expect, and more by what level of service you choose within that area. Here is what street, mid-range and premium laundry typically cost across the island's main areas, and where hotel pricing changes the picture.

Why area matters less than service level
It is tempting to assume laundry is cheaper near the beach in Canggu and more expensive somewhere quiet like Sanur, or the other way round. In practice, the price band you choose (street, mid-range or premium) moves the number far more than which area you are in. The table below breaks out typical ranges by area, but read it alongside what those price bands actually include, because a low number and a low number are not always the same deal.
Typical price bands by area
All figures are typical market ranges, not any single laundry's rate card, and change over time.
| Area | Street kiloan (per kg) | Mid-range pickup (per kg) | Premium full service (per kg) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canggu | 12,000–25,000 IDR | 45,000–60,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Seminyak | 12,000–25,000 IDR | 45,000–60,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Kuta / Legian | 10,000–20,000 IDR | 40,000–55,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Ubud | 10,000–20,000 IDR | 40,000–55,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Sanur | 10,000–20,000 IDR | 40,000–55,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Uluwatu | 15,000–25,000 IDR | 45,000–60,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Nusa Dua | 15,000–25,000 IDR | 45,000–60,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
| Denpasar | 10,000–18,000 IDR | 35,000–50,000 IDR | ~100,000 IDR |
The premium band clusters near 100,000 IDR per kg everywhere, because at that level the price reflects the process (inspection, sorting, stain removal, ironing, guaranteed pickup and delivery), not the neighbourhood.
Why some areas look pricier than others
A few real reasons an area's numbers shift:
- Distance from a laundry's base. Uluwatu and Nusa Dua are further from most central operations, so some services add a small distance charge, which shows up as a slightly higher effective price even if the per-kg rate is the same.
- Tourist density. Areas with heavy short-stay tourism, like central Kuta and parts of Seminyak, have more street kiloans competing on price, which pushes the bottom of the range down even as premium prices stay flat.
- Hotel concentration. In areas dominated by hotels and resorts, per-item hotel pricing is often the only laundry people see, which makes the area feel expensive even though a per-kg service nearby is not.
Hotel laundry: the outlier everywhere
Hotel laundry does not fit the per-kg table because it is priced per item, not by weight. A single shirt is commonly 60,000–120,000 IDR, a dress more. For a week of normal clothes, that adds up to well beyond what a premium per-kg service charges for the same bag, everything included. This is true in Nusa Dua resorts as much as in a Kuta hotel: the convenience of a laundry list on the back of the door is real, but it is close to always the most expensive laundry option on the island.
What changes your total beyond the per-kg number
The per-kg price is only part of the real cost. A few things shift the final total in any area:
- Minimum orders. Street kiloans rarely have one; mid-range and premium services usually set a minimum, commonly around 300,000 IDR, so a very small bag can cost more per kg than the advertised rate suggests.
- Pickup and delivery fees. Some mid-range services advertise a low per-kg price but charge separately for pickup below a certain order size, or add a distance fee outside a central zone. Always ask whether the quoted price already includes it.
- Ironing as an extra. A handful of services charge per item for pressing on top of the wash price, which can meaningfully raise the real cost of a week of shirts and dresses.
- Shoes and delicates. These are frequently priced separately from the per-kg rate, by the pair or by the item, so a bag with several pairs of shoes will not follow the clothing price table above.
The only way to compare fairly is to ask for one number that includes everything for your actual bag, not just the headline per-kg rate.
A worked example across service levels
Take a fairly typical Bali bag: five t-shirts, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, a dress, a bath towel and a bed sheet set, roughly 4.5 kg all together.
| Service level | Rough total for this bag | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Street kiloan (~18,000 IDR/kg) | ~81,000 IDR | Wash, hot dry, fold; you drop off and collect |
| Mid-range pickup (~50,000 IDR/kg) | ~225,000 IDR, often with a minimum applied | Wash, dry, fold, pickup sometimes free above the minimum |
| Premium full service (100,000 IDR/kg, TRAST) | ~450,000 IDR, or the 200,000 IDR minimum for a smaller bag | Inspection, sorting, stain removal, ironing, free pickup and delivery |
The premium total looks large next to the street price until you weigh what it buys: no risk of a mixed load, no guessing whether the dryer damaged the elastic in a bikini, and a shirt that comes back pressed rather than crumpled. One price, every area: how TRAST prices work
TRAST charges the same 100,000 IDR per kg for clothes, bed linen and towels and 150,000 IDR per pair of shoes everywhere in Bali, with a 200,000 IDR minimum order and free pickup and delivery with no distance charge, whether that is a villa in Canggu or a cliff-top house in Uluwatu. We built it this way on purpose: the honest cost of doing laundry properly does not actually change much between areas, so neither should the price.
If you want to compare us against street or mid-range options in your specific area, use the ranges above as a starting point and ask any laundry, us included, exactly what the number includes before you commit a bag.
